The fact that the horse is green with decorative cloudberries is due to the enthusiasm of Maud Ån, who was keen to see a specially designed Sälen horse in connection with the summer event Speldosa held in Sälen in 2000 to give as a gift to the event's performers. Now a large Sälen horse is also on display at the roundabout in Sälen where the road turns off towards the mountain facilities.
